Eggnog Thumbprint Cookies

Eggnog Thumbprint Cookies
Makes 40 x 1” balls
75-90 x ½” balls 
 
1 cup butter, softened
½ cup white sugar
¼ cup packed brown sugar
1 egg
½ tsp vanilla
¼ tsp salt
2 cups flour
1 cup icing sugar
1 tbsp rum (OR ¼ tsp rum extract + 1 tbsp milk)
1 pinch nutmeg
 
Cream ¾ cup butter with white and brown sugars. Add egg, vanilla and salt. Mix well.
Gradually add in flour at low speed until a dough forms.
Shape into 1” or ½” balls. Place balls on ungreased cookie sheets and make a thumbprint well into each cookie.
Bake at 350˚F for 12 min, cool completely. 
Filling
Combine ¼ cup butter with icing sugar and rum. Spoon rounded teaspoons of filling into the cookie thumbprints.
Sprinkle with nutmeg
